You can come too, too, too, We're going to the zoo, zoo, zoo.

Breakfast time

This morning was Saturday so we got up, had some breakfast at home and then decided it would be nice to go to the zoo.  Omaha Zoo is quite famous, I am told, for being very good.

Inspirational posters on roadside billboards are a thing here.

We drove to the zoo, which was only 15 minutes or so.

Are we nearly there yet?

The zoo's Desert Dome

It's a long time since I went to any zoo.  Omaha's zoo is on a scale I previously would not really been able to comprehend.

It was brass monkeys outside.

I gave the brass monkeys a cuddle.

The man in the ticket office was very pleased to see us after he saw me fondle his brass monkeys.

Without further ado we entered the Desert Dome.

After we had seen the desert, the cats and the big apes we decided we had had enough. We saw about 5% of the zoo and it was amazing. I would dearly love to come back when its a bit warmer and see some more, the zoo is really worth it.

We went downtown for some lunch.

Downtown Omaha

Something about cupcakes.

For lunch I had a steak.  It came on a waffle. Yes, a waffle.

Art meets real life

After lunch we had a walk around downtown.  It has lots of shops and interesting things, I found it to be quite pleasant.  After the walk around we went home. It was teatime. We had a passable takeaway chinese meal from the local supermarket.  Desert was called 'Watergate Salad' which none of us had ever tried.  It was a green desert with pineapple, marshmallow and pistachio and I don't mind telling you that I found it to be vile. Much like the Watergate scandal.

After our evening meal we retired to watch a movie and after that I went to bed early.

Night night, cat.
